Dataquest recently came up with their ranking for the top technical colleges in our country.
And guess what?? NITC is placed 9th in the ranking!!
There are a few new entries in the top 20 and a few premier colleges are missing.

Reasons for NITC entering top 10:
There was a 35.5% increase in the placement score in 2006-07 over 2005-06. The infrastructure score went up 1.9%, and the score of academic environment went up 15.7% in 2007-08 over the previous year.In terms of IT/BPO companies visiting the campus for placements, the number went up from 33 in 2005-06 to 41 in 2006-07.When it comes to all the companies visiting the campus for placements, the number went up from 58 in 2005-06 to 92 in 2006-07.

lol !!! honestly man, im a bit confused ... if we think our college is shitty.. and if they think we are the top ten .. then how shitty is a shitty college ??? :S

Be proud of the Institution from where you study. If you wanted to live in the glory of your alma mater then you should have chosen the so called three letter Institutions in India. You may be destined to add glory to your alma mater and that is why you are studying where you are presently. Remember that no body can change the latitude and longtitude of your college location but the altitude of your college can be changed by how you perform in the college and in your career after graduation. The best would be to rate engineering colleges as their students itself!

Its difficult for any student to appreciate their colg unless they visit a colg thats worse..wen we are in an nit we know that we are in one of the better colgs in the country but we still find lot of problems with it coz we live there.. agree with both of u..

yea..its also one method to grab a lot of attention... so now many magazines are comin up with their rankings.. how wud u rate the students of the colg?? u cant do it wid their marks fr sure!..that leaves placements as the best option..and thats wat they have used here too..
surely ONGC played a vital part in the jump..
Dont be surprised by NITC's perfomance.We have an average salry of 4.9lacs(btech) and when it comes to infrastructure how many colls in India have 24 hr access to net the way we do.

this ranking is totally crap. NIT Calicut ranked above NIT-Warangal and DAIICT at surprise position 12th above IIIT-A , BIT Mesra, MNNIT, this is totally shitt

Dude changes do happen.If NITW has been better in the past it does not mean it always will.BTW i do concede that NITW has amazing placements-better than NITC.But when it comes to infra we second only the IIT's(even that for now).HR perception is strong as well and Industry linkage is amazing with Civ dept making millions in contracts.Having said that I would have taken cs in NITW ahead of the same in NITC,neday.Ranking of one year doesnt change anything
